Janan Ganesh believes Boris Johnson has exposed the costs of Britain’s addiction to humour. The ability to poke fun at oneself is not a bad thing. However, an exasperated Ganesh reflects that British unseriousness has resulted in a journalist who was able to joke his way into power. At the same time, the UK sat back and laughed itself into political and economic ruin.
