Robot cognition requires machines that both think and feel

Humans have always favoured cognition over emotion. This applies both to the robots they build as well as to themselves. But Luiz Pessoa, writing in Aeon magazine, argues that coding emotion into robots is not merely the next step in artificial intelligence, but an integral part of creating true intelligence.
