Toronto wants to kill the smart city forever

Could the major Canadian city become an urban utopia? In 2017, Sidewalk was supposed to transform 2,000 acres along the city's lakeshore into a hub of optimised urban-tech experience. However, security concerns spelt the end for this city's vision, but not for innovation. As Karrie Jacobs explains, the 2022 Waterfront Quayside project has learnt from the past to reflect the changing times and promote nature instead.
