The US “Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency” invented the internet, wireless technology and robotic prosthetics amongst hundreds of other life-changing inventions that turned science fiction into reality. Their next effort? To turn air, water and a little electricity into food. Rana Foroohar talks to scientist Molly Jahn, who is heading the wildly ambitious goal of creating a global food system that matches human needs more closely than the current one.
